From the Sun to Earth

Seen from above the Sun's north pole, not to scale. The Sun is NOAA's newest SUVI image of it; Earth is NASA's newest EPIC image, taken from DSCOVR at L1. Each glowing cloud is a coronal mass ejection (CME) from NASA DONKI, in the direction and width DONKI's analysts measured; it grows at its measured speed, or, when we know the storm it caused, at the speed it actually took to reach L1. Flares flash on the Sun at their peak time, brighter for stronger classes.
